Every Player in Every Position
At Lisnagry FC we believe in a player centric approach to football as championed by Belgian FA Director of Coach Education, Kris Van Der Haegen. In the space of 10 years Belgium went from rank 66 in the world to number 1 in FIFA's world ranking by changing the way they approached the training of football to kids.
Our former secretary Dave Walsh attended the iCoachKids International Conference in 2019 where Kris Van Der Haegen was a speaker and is quoted as saying "it was the best 2 hours I've ever spent with a man". The basic premise of the philosophy is to focus less on winning and more on developing the player. Kids develop at different stages, so the child left on the bench today, could be tomorrows Nacer Chadli, Dries Mertens or Kevin De Bruyne - all of whom were late maturers.
It didn't take much persuading from Dave to convince the other coaches at Lisnagry FC that we need to change the way we approach coaching, and all our coaches have now signed up to the philosophy.
You can read more about the philosophy and how it changed Belgian Football here, or speak to Dave who will convince you with his empassioned enthusiasm.
